Come join the fun and bring the whole family for the parks annual Ice Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Izaak Walton League of America! To celebrate Free Fishing Weekend (no fishing license required), this free event will take place on Saturday February 17, 2024. There will be prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places for the biggest fish caught contest for the kids! Never been ice fishing before? Don't let that stop you! We will offer guidance for those who want to learn. If you do not have your own fishing gear, we do have a limited amount that can be borrowed on a first come, first serve basis. We will even drill holes in the ice for anyone who asks! A warming fire will be roaring at the picnic shelter and warm refreshments will be provided. Fish On!
We will meet at Fisherman's Cove Picnic Shelter.
To find out if the event gets cancelled due to bad weather or road conditions, please call the park office at 248-634-7271 by Thursday Feb. 15. We will also post any cancellation notices on the Seven Lakes State Park Facebook page.
