Fall brings crisp leaves, cooler air, time changes, longer dark hours and sometimes mixed emotions. Here are some tips to stay positive and upbeat during the time change transition as we move into winter.
1. Make time to get outdoors during day time hours - take a walk at lunch, sit by the window and soak up some sun. Embrace the daylight as it has been proven to help our moods.
2. Embrace the fact that it might be dark at 5pm, but you have hours to do more things after work and school. Take time to enjoy that extra family time while everyone is inside and cozy.
3. Take time to make a list of fun things to do while the time change is impacting daylight. This can be creative and both indoor and outdoor activities.
4. Do not forget to add extra family snuggle time to your evening. Those extra hours of darkness can give us extra movie nights and snuggles.
5. Try to keep your normal routine of exercising and meals because this can help make you feel more on track and in control.
We all take time to get used to the time change and lack of daylight which can cause havoc on our state of mind. Try to keep things in perspective and remember that with most situations, this is temporary and we will get back to more hours of daylight. Take a moment to embrace this change and you may end of liking it.
Happy Fall to ALL!
